We've been doing this for a while now and it is starting to get easier. I enjoy spending time with my kids. I'm not sure how much they enjoy spending so much time with me. I would love to get a job. I 'm going crazy without one- not to mention I am totally stressed out about finances. I am going to set a goal of writing on this blog at least once a week. Maybe that will help keep my mind easy.
This week the rest of the world (at least around our house) was on spring break which was difficult for the boys. We spent a lot of time this week learning about North Korea, both history and current events. Chris is really interested which is wonderful since it is difficult engaging him with anything besides computer games. He is also trying to develop his own virtual world, but his primary laptop is down with a broken fan. He and I will attempt to take it apart and repair it soon. We also found a great math website with really fun games, MathMovesU. Games really help to break up the monotony of math worksheets. Math seems to be the one subject we have to work at to get enough of. No one wants to sit down and do math- not even me!

The Times They are A'Changing
I am a single mom. I have been since a few days before I found out I was pregnant. I have never had a partner in this game- except for an incredibly supportive family! My adventure started almost eleven years ago when my boys were born. Yes, twins! And they turn eleven tomorrow! Amazing we have survived so long.
We have gone through life in what is probably a very typical manner. The boys, M and C, have been attending public school since kindergarten. I was a high school drop out when they were born and have made my way through community college and university since they were born. I have been working as a paralegal for the last couple years.
Recently we have had major changes in our lives. The boys have been having an increasingly difficult time at school, between bullies, homework, and issues with teachers. Because of these problems we have been discussing different school options between the three of us and with my parents. Just about the time we settled on pulling the kids out of public school and embarking on an independent study path, I lost my job. So now we are all trying to find our feet in all the chaos.
I am looking for work. The boys are enrolled in a school where 80% of the work is done at home. We are together ALL THE TIME! This blog will be an opportunity for me to express the frustrations and joys of our new path. Just like always we are making our life work.
